Poco F7 Pro: The New Performance King?

The HD10 Plus video standards and notes that the screen lacks LTPO technology, limiting its refresh rate adaptability compared to some flagship phones. The display can switch between 120 Hz and 60 Hz to conserve power when idle. Regarding audio, the phone features a pair of stereo speakers that deliver good loudness and a balanced frequency response without notable flaws.

Storage and Software OS

The phone features an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint reader that is both fast and reliable. It offers 256 or 512 GB of internal storage with no microSD expansion option. The device runs Xiaomi’s latest Hyper OS 2 based on Android 15, which includes optimizations and aesthetic improvements while maintaining a familiar user experience similar to recent Xiaomi or Poco phones. Additionally, it incorporates AI capabilities such as Google’s Gemini AI.

This segment describes various AI functionalities available in different apps. The assistant offers comprehensive features, including text-related AI tools in the notes app such as summarizing, proofreading, translation, and layout changes. Additionally, AI-powered real-time translation and subtitle interpretation are integrated into supported apps. The gallery app also includes AI tools like AI sky, which can alter or dramatically change the sky in photos. The Poco F7 Pro offers strong software support with 4 years of major updates and 6 years of security patches.

Performance and Chipset

It features last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which, while not the newest, still delivers powerful performance comparable to 2024 flagship phones. Benchmark results confirm its high capability, with only phones using this year’s top silicon surpassing it.

Battery and Charging

The Poco F7 Ultra features effective thermal management, performing well in prolonged CPU stress tests, although graphics-related stress tests do cause thermal throttling. Xiaomi increased the battery capacity from 5,000 mAh to 6,000 mAh, significantly improving battery life. In testing, the F7 Pro achieved an impressive active use time of nearly 14 hours, compared to about 10.5 hours last year. The phone also supports 90 watt fast charging.

The Poco F7 Pro comes with an official charger in some markets, enabling fast charging from 0 to 53% in 15 minutes and a full charge in 34 minutes. However, it lacks wireless charging, which is available on the Ultra model.

Camera Overview

The phone’s rear camera setup includes a main camera and an ultrawide lens, with the 2-megapixel macro camera removed. The front features a new 20-megapixel selfie camera. The Poco F7 Pro features a 50 megapixel main camera, consistent with last year’s model, delivering excellent daytime photos with plenty of detail, natural colors, and wide dynamic range. Portrait shots at native zoom look great, and even at two times digital zoom, the detail remains solid though slightly less refined.

At night, the main camera performs exceptionally well with strong detail, balanced dynamic range, and accurate white balance and color saturation. The 8 megapixel ultrawide camera also produces sharp, contrasty images with good color and dynamic range for its class.

The Poco F7 Pro’s ultra wide camera performs well in low light with good dynamic range, though shadows can appear mushy, which is typical for ultra wide lenses. The main camera supports video recording up to 8K, while the ultra wide and selfie cameras are limited to 1080p. The main camera’s 4K videos capture fine detail with mature processing, offering pleasing dynamic range and colors.

The ultra wide 1080p videos are less sharp but have acceptable overall quality. Video stabilization is effective, reducing walking shake and providing smooth pans. In low light, the main camera delivers excellent detail, wide dynamic range, and accurate colors. Overall, the Poco F7 Pro impresses with its high-resolution display, flagship-grade chipset, and strong battery performance.
