The Mahindra XUV 700 has long dominated the Indian SUV market, but that’s about to change. Several automakers are now gearing up to challenge its position by launching powerful new 7-seater SUVs in the coming months. With the Indian SUV market growing rapidly, major car brands are introducing feature-packed models designed to attract families and car enthusiasts alike, setting the stage for competition in the segment.

1. Renault Boreal

The Renault has officially revealed its 7-seater SUV in the global market, and is expected to make its debut in India by mid-2026. It’s going to be a competitor to the Mahindra’s flagship SUV. This SUV launch is expected to be a game-changer.

The expected features are – dual 10-inch screen for infotainment and instrument cluster, ambient lighting, front memory seat (for passenger and driver) with massage function (only driver), wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, Harman Kardon sound system, Level 2 ADAS, rear AC vents and others in its package. In the international market, it gets a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine (158bhp & 270Nm) paired with a DCT gearbox, but the combination for India is still under wraps. The model is expected to launch by mid-2026.

2. Hyundai’s 7-Seater SUV

With a new vehicle, Hyundai may potentially try to break into the Mahindra XUV 700 market. The firm now offers the Alcazar as a 7-seater entry-level model, but it may soon unveil a new nameplate. Although developments are ongoing, the firm has not yet disclosed a debut date for this new seven-seater.

Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that the new vehicle will include the Creta’s design language and feature set from the small SUV. Although it’s too soon to tell, this new Hyundai 7-seater may have some cutting-edge technology, such as a digital instrument cluster, ADAS level 2, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment, captain and bench seat choices in the second row, linked car technology, and more. In terms of powertrain, a 1.5-liter hybrid engine can handle the task. It is anticipated that this seven-seater will debut in 2027.

3. Nissan’s 7-Seater SUV

Nissan will also introduce a 7-seater based on its new Tekton SUV to challenge the category. Again, Nissan’s model will be outfitted with cutting-edge features and safety equipment to fulfil the purpose in the country.

We expect it will be based on the previously seen 5-seater Tekton SUV, with features like as a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, powered and ventilated seats, premium upholstery, and more. It is believed to be powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It may have a hybrid powertrain option. The model is projected to be available by the end of 2026.
